The iPad 2 and iPhone 5 Rumour Mill
From my general surfing of the Internet, it seems that iPad 2 and iPhone 5 rumours are everywhere. While I’m not in a position to prove or disprove any of these rumours. I thought it would be fun at least to go though and find out what’s likely to be included in the updated versions of the iPad and iPhone ahead of Apple’s next keynote speech.
iPad 2
The recently iSO 4.3 beta showed 3 new apps which almost confirms the existence of a forward facing camera on the new iPad2 (FaceTime, Camera, and PhotoBooth). I would assume this is a likely feature to be included in the new iPad, in-light of competitor tablets features front facing cameras.
The display to remain unchanged. The iPhone 4 has the Retina display and the current iPad does not and this is not likely to change. Rumours of the resolution being doubled to 2048x 1536 and with the Retina display appear to be quashed with insiders suggesting that the cost to produce a Retina display for a tablet and with enough RAM to power it would be prohibitive.
Possibility of USB and SD card slots. Probably unlikely, but maybe MicroUSB port or adapter so the iPad meets new EU regulations on mobile device chargers.

iPhone 5
Anntena-gate seems to be the thing most associated with iPhone 4, regardless of it’s new Retina display, Gorilla glass and Facetime features. So expect Apple to pull out the stops to avoid another PR nightmare.
News is still thin on the ground about the new phone. However Apple have announced that they are set to increase their carrier base State side to include Verizon. Couple with that are rumours of a multimode chipset that will enable Apple and its manufacturing partners to produce one version of the device that is capable of connecting to AT&T’s GSM network as well as Verizon’s CDMA network.

To reiterate this is all speculation. we’ll all have to wait for the keynote speech to know more. Unless an Apple employee leaves the demo of device in a Taxi or Pub.
