Super Mario Galaxy 2 UK Launch 11/06/10

I tend  to get very over excited upon launch of a new Super Mario game. and Friday’s launch of Super Mario Galaxy 2 on the Wii is no exception. I’m quite desperate to get my hands on a copy (So I have something to occupy me between World Cup matches). I guess it’s either just a sense of nostalgia and enjoyment  from working my way through Super Mario World on the SNES when I was 8. Or just knowing that I can dedicate a month of my life playing through it; finding every star, coin and warp pipe and never feeling disappointed by the end of it (unlike the football).

The first installment of Mario Galaxy left me gob smacked and Nintendo have raised the bar again. A lot of features from the first remain with new elements thrown in. Such as a suit Mario can wear that can generate clouds to get Mario to platforms that would otherwise be out of reach.

More importantly there’s challenges in the game which will tax gaming veterains, but not too taxing to put off novices. Also there are elements of classic 2D style thrown in on some Galaxys  keeping the gameplay varied.

I’ve found a review from IGN just to wet the appetite further.
